Central epinergic inhibition of corticosterone release in rat.

چکیده
Drugs known to inhibit phenylethanolamine-N-methyltransferase (EC 2.1.1.28), the final enzyme in the epinephrine synthetic pathway were administered to rats and their effects on pituitary-arenal function studied. 2,3-Dichloro-a-methylbenzylamine (DCMB) produced dose-related increases in plasma corticosterone in basal and stressed rats. Evidence for the central nature of this tonic inhibitory effect of epinephrine was its continued presence in adrenal demedullated rats. 2-Chloro-3-trifluoromethyl-~-benzylamine (CTFMB) administration elevated plasma corticosterone and this effect was highly correlated to the decrease in hypothalamic epinephrine concentration in both sham operated and adrenal demedullated rats. These findings argue for tonic epinergic inhibition of pituitary-adrenal function.

ENDOGENOUS RELEASE OF OPIATES BY REPETITIVE ELECTRICAL FIELD STIMULATION IN THE GUINEA-PIG AND RAT ILEAL LONGITUDINAL MUSCLE
The effect of repetitive electrical field stimulation and the response of the guinea-pig and rat ileal longitudinal muscle to single pulse stimulations was examined. Single pulse field stimulation produced twitch contraction which was inhibited by repetitive field stimulation (10 Hz, 40V, 0.5 msec for 5 m). This inhibition was largely, though never completely, reversed by naloxone. Contrac...
متن کاملInhibition of Cyclooxygenase Type 1 and 2 Enzyme by Aqueous Extract of Elaeagnus Angustifolia in Mice
Introduction: It has been shown that the extract of Elaeagnus angustifolia can inhibit inflammation and pain induced by formalin in mice and rats. The aim of the present study is to reach evaluations of possible cellular and molecular mechanisms of Elaeagnus angustifolia extract in reducing pain and inflammation through examining the extract ability for inhibition of cyclooxygenase (Cox) type ...
متن کاملInhibition of stress-induced neuroendocrine and behavioral responses in the rat by prepro-thyrotropin-releasing hormone 178-199.
A corticotropin release-inhibiting factor (CRIF) in brain has been postulated for several decades, based on increased plasma levels of ACTH and corticosterone after hypothalamic-pituitary disconnection. Recent in vitro studies indicate that prepro-TRH178-199 may function as an endogenous CRIF, prompting us to examine stress-related neuroendocrine and behavioral responses after in vivo administr...
متن کاملP20: Investigation the Effect of EMF on Plasma Levels of Corticosterone, Testosterone and Testicular Gene Expression of Gstt1 of Male Rats
The chronic exposure to ELF-EMF (extremely-low frequency electromagnetic field) has been shown as an effective factor at biological systems. In order to determine the possible effects of whole-body exposure to EMF on plasma levels of testosterones and corticosterone, weight gain and testicular gene expression of Gstt1 of male rats, the present study was performed by the following procedure: thi...
متن کاملThe Effect of Acute Corticosterone Administration on Retrieval of Remote and Recent Memory in the Rat
Background and Objective: It is well known that stress and glucocorticoid, modulate memory processing, though the result is completely dependent on the time of stress induction. This study investigated the effect of acute corticosterone administration on memory retrieval of recent and remote memory in a 4 trials/day (low- intensity learning) or 8 trials/ day (high- intensity learning) Morris wa...
